Wilsons Barbershop exists to honor and continue the craft of barbering the way it has existed for years. We represent the Best of the Barbershop form our welcoming, nostalgic environment to our commitment to excellence in cutting ALL Hair regardless of texture, ethnicity or identity.
That foundation is at the heart of everything we do at Wilson’s on 18th. Located at 2010 18TH St NW DC in the same space where our founder Akil once cut hair years ago at the renown Wise Owl Club. Wilson’s Barbershop is a warm, vibrant gathering place that feels like home to everyone who walks in. It’s a true reflection of the city: diverse, dynamic, and deeply rooted in culture and community.
For us barbering isn’t just about the cuts—it’s about connection. Our haircuts prepare our guests for the most important moments of their lives from proms, first dates, graduations, job interviews, weddings and every event in between. Our business participates in teaching barbering classes to D.C. teens, and mentoring young people through hands-on experience. We are growing the craft while creating real pathways for local youth to build careers and confidence.
Outside the shop, Akil is a writer, podcaster, and avid golfer. Our crew has a variety of outside interests from stand-up comedy to gardening and even NASCAR!
We all bring the same purpose to work every day: building a stronger D.C., one conversation, one cut, one story at a time.
Wilson's on 18th is just as dedicated to our community as our community is to us.
